The Blum 79B9980 is a specialist 95° overlay blind-corner hinge with a knock-in hinge-cup fixing. It is designed for cabinet doors that overlay the supporting blind-corner frame or muntin and features a 37mm dimension A.

Integrated BLUMOTION provides smooth, controlled soft closing and can be switched off at an individual hinge when necessary. The sprung mechanism pulls the door closed, while the CLIP connection allows the door to be attached to or removed from the mounting plate without tools.

Knock-in hinge-cup preparation

The door requires a 35mm hinge-cup hole drilled to a depth of 13mm. Two additional 8mm fixing holes are required at 45mm centres, positioned with a 9.5mm offset from the hinge-cup centre line.

The pre-mounted knock-in dowels are pressed into the prepared fixing holes. Suitable Blum assembly equipment or an appropriate insertion method should be used to ensure that the hinge cup is seated squarely and without damage.

Mounting-plate selection

For the overlay blind-corner application, mounting-plate spacing is determined by the thickness of the supporting frame or muntin:

Door thickness, cup drilling distance and the required minimum gap must also be considered during planning. Blum provides calculation values for fronts from 16–32mm thick and recommends trial fitting for certain thicker-front combinations.

79B9980 or 79B9950?

Both hinges have the same 95° overlay blind-corner geometry and integrated BLUMOTION. Choose the 79B9980 for knock-in hinge-cup fixing or the 79B9950 where a conventional screw-on hinge cup is preferred.
