Even incredibly modern pressure-treated wood will eventually break down under strain from the elements. The base of the home is the most likely place you're going to find rotten wood as well as along the roof and anywhere else that moisture has been an issue. One of the other common places you might find rotten wood is on the window sills. This last fact is mainly an issue in house built in the 80's and 90's due to lesser-quality finger jointed woodwork.

Poor Drainage

Water damage is a danger to any home with poor drainage. Drains can be easily blocked especially if food waste is making its way down the sink or you're flushing things that aren't meant for the draining system. Water damage isn't your only concern when it comes to poor drainage as it can also lead to some nasty mould which not only smells and makes things look ugly but poses a serious risk for your health too.

Handrails

This may sounds like a strange one but many people don't pay enough attention to their handrails. They take constant abuse on a daily basis and we pay them little to no mind at all. That's why it's one of the most common problems with any home that a handrail might not be as strong as you would hope. Of course repair work is incredibly simple as most of these hand rails or as we elite say ‘banisters' are made from wood which is easily fixed.
