Blum 79B9555 +20° Type II Angled BLUMOTION Hinge

The Blum 79B9555 is a specialist +20° Type II angled overlay hinge with a screw-on hinge cup. It is designed for cabinets where the hinge-side mounting surface is positioned at a 20° cabinet angle, such as angled, diagonal or non-square furniture constructions.

The +20° designation describes the cabinet application angle. The door itself has a separate 95° opening angle. Integrated BLUMOTION provides controlled soft closing and can be switched off at an individual hinge when required.

Understanding +20° Type II

The +20° designation refers to the angle of the cabinet's hinge-side mounting surface. It does not mean that the door only opens by 20°. The hinge provides an approximately 95° door opening.

Type II identifies this hinge's angled geometry and direction within the Blum angled-application system. Type I, Type II and negative-angle hinges should not be treated as interchangeable.

Mounting-plate planning

For Blum's standard +20° Type II overlay application No. 4, the factory-setting solution uses a 0mm Blum CLIP mounting plate, such as a suitable 173H7100-series plate.

Other planned door positions can require different mounting-plate spacings or angled spacers. The plate must therefore be selected from the required door position and cabinet angle, rather than from the hinge number alone.

Please note: The mounting plate, hinge-cup screws and cabinet fixing screws are not included unless expressly stated. Confirm the cabinet angle, overlay, door thickness, cup drilling distance and required gap before drilling. A trial installation is recommended.

Screw-on cup installation

Prepare a 35mm hinge-cup hole to a depth of 13mm. The two screw-fixing positions are arranged on 45mm centres with a 9.5mm offset from the cup centre line.

Use screws suitable for the door material and avoid overtightening, particularly when installing the hinge into MDF or particleboard.

79B9555 or 79B9595?

Both hinges provide the same +20° Type II overlay geometry, 95° opening and integrated BLUMOTION. Choose the 79B9555 for a screw-fixed hinge cup or the 79B9595 for tool-free INSERTA cup installation.
