PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Blum 79B9580 CLIP top BLUMOTION 95° Inset Blind-Corner Knock-In Hinge

The Blum 79B9580 is a specialist CLIP top BLUMOTION hinge for inset blind-corner cabinet applications. It is designed to mount a cabinet door to an inset muntin or fixed front panel where standard overlay or inset hinge geometry would not provide the required positioning.

The hinge opens to 95° and incorporates Blum's switchable BLUMOTION mechanism for controlled, quiet closing. Its knock-in 35mm hinge cup has pre-fitted fixing dowels for repeatable workshop installation into a correctly prepared door drilling pattern.

Key features

  • Specialist inset blind-corner application
  • 95° opening angle
  • Integrated BLUMOTION soft-close mechanism
  • BLUMOTION can be deactivated when required
  • Sprung, self-closing hinge action
  • Knock-in 35mm hinge cup with pre-fitted dowels
  • Tool-free CLIP connection between the hinge and mounting plate
  • Three-dimensional door adjustment
  • Nickel-plated steel construction
  • Supplied as one hinge

Blind-corner application

A blind-corner hinge is used where the door is mounted to a fixed cabinet muntin or blind panel rather than directly to a conventional cabinet side. The 79B9580 uses dedicated inset blind-corner geometry and must be installed according to Blum's application-planning dimensions.

This product should not be selected solely because it has a 95° opening angle. The cabinet construction, muntin position, door thickness, drilling distance and required reveal must all match the blind-corner application.

Special mounting-plate requirements

Blum's planning information specifies a 3mm-spaced standard CLIP mounting plate for this application. The standard mounting-plate fixing position must be moved 15.5mm nearer the edge of the muntin, giving a stated setback of 21.5mm.

These dimensions ensure the door and muntin are correctly positioned on the inside. A trial installation is recommended where the front thickness or edge profile produces restricted clearance.

Knock-in hinge-cup fixing

The knock-in hinge cup has pre-fitted dowels that are pressed into two correctly drilled 8mm fixing holes beside the 35mm cup recess. This provides a consistent fixing without separate cup screws.

Suitable insertion equipment or an appropriate workshop assembly method is required. Knock-in fixing should not be confused with Blum's lever-operated, tool-free INSERTA system.

The knock-in specification refers to the hinge-to-door connection. The cabinet mounting plate remains a separate component.

Blum's planning table covers front thicknesses from 16mm to 32mm. A trial application is specifically indicated for several combinations involving 29–32mm fronts, so suitability at these thicknesses should not be assumed without checking the complete geometry.

Please note: The required 3mm-spaced Blum CLIP mounting plate is sold separately. Suitable drilling and insertion equipment is required for the knock-in hinge-cup fixing.

Blum advises that CLIP top BLUMOTION and standard non-BLUMOTION CLIP top hinges should not be combined on the same door.

Frequently asked questions

What is a blind-corner cabinet hinge?

It is a specialist hinge used where the door is mounted to an inset muntin or fixed blind panel rather than directly to a conventional cabinet side.

Is the Blum 79B9580 a standard inset hinge?

No. It has specialist geometry for an inset blind-corner application and requires the cabinet and mounting-plate positions shown in Blum's planning information.

What mounting plate is required?

Blum specifies a standard CLIP mounting plate with 3mm spacing. Its fixing position must also be adjusted for the blind-corner geometry.

Does this hinge include soft close?

Yes. It has integrated BLUMOTION soft closing, which can be deactivated when required.

Is knock-in the same as INSERTA?

No. A knock-in hinge uses pre-fitted dowels and suitable insertion equipment. INSERTA uses a lever-operated, tool-free cup-fixing mechanism.

Is the mounting plate included?

No. The compatible 3mm-spaced Blum CLIP mounting plate must be ordered separately.
