PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
1829 × 25 × 0.9mm Grade 304 Stainless Steel Piano Hinge – No Holes
This light-duty stainless steel piano hinge, also known as a continuous hinge, measures 1829mm long and 25mm wide when fully open. It is manufactured from 0.9mm-thick Grade 304 stainless steel with a functional self-colour finish.
Piano hinges were originally developed for the long keyboard covers and lids fitted to pianos. They are now widely used in cabinet making, furniture, boxes, cases, lids and access panels where continuous support is required along an extended hinged edge.
This version is manufactured without fixing holes. Its plain leaves provide flexibility for custom drilling, suitable welding or another application-specific fixing method. The installation method must be selected for the adjoining materials and intended use.
The 0.9mm leaf provides a lightweight, slim continuous hinge suitable for smaller and appropriately specified applications. It can produce a neat joint with relatively small gaps between adjoining panels.
The hinge has a 3.3mm-diameter pin and 12.7mm knuckle length. Supplied as one complete 1829mm hinge. It may be cut to a suitable shorter length using appropriate stainless-steel cutting equipment.

Why use a continuous hinge?
A continuous hinge supports the hinged edge along its length instead of concentrating movement at several separate hinge positions. This can help maintain alignment and distribute movement across a long lid, door or panel.
Cutting and installation
- Confirm that the dimensions and light-duty construction suit the application.
- Measure and mark the required finished length.
- Use suitable stainless-steel cutting equipment and appropriate protective equipment.
- Remove sharp edges and metal swarf after cutting.
- Align the complete hinge before drilling, welding or applying another fixing method.
- If drilling, select suitable hole positions, hole sizes and fixings for the substrate.
- If welding, use an appropriate stainless-steel welding process and competent installer.
- Check alignment and free movement before completing the installation.
This hinge has no factory-produced fixing holes. Fixing screws are not included.
Questions and answers
What size is this piano hinge?
It measures 1829mm long, 25mm wide when fully open and 0.9mm thick.
What grade of stainless steel is used?
The hinge is manufactured from Grade 304 stainless steel.
What does self colour mean?
Self colour means the stainless steel is supplied in its natural metallic finish rather than with a decorative plated or polished coating.
Does the hinge have fixing holes?
No. Both leaves are supplied without factory-produced fixing holes.
Can fixing holes be drilled?
Yes. Suitable equipment, hole positions and fixings must be selected for the application. Remove burrs and swarf after drilling.
Can this hinge be welded?
The plain leaves may be used in an appropriate fabricated or welded installation. The process must suit Grade 304 stainless steel and the adjoining materials.
What is the hinge-pin diameter?
The hinge has a 3.3mm-diameter pin.
What is the knuckle length?
The knuckle length is 12.7mm. The existing 15mm size value is incorrect and must be removed.
Can the hinge be shortened?
Yes. It may be cut using suitable stainless-steel cutting equipment. Remove sharp edges and swarf after cutting.
Are fixing screws included?
No. This hinge has no fixing holes and fixing screws are not included.
Is Grade 304 stainless steel suitable outdoors?
Grade 304 stainless steel provides useful corrosion resistance, but suitability depends on the environment and maintenance. Do not describe it as corrosion-proof or marine grade.
Is it fire rated or load rated?
No fire-door rating, security classification or certified load capacity is declared for this product.
