PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Blum CLIP top 170° Wide-Opening Cabinet Hinge (71T6550)

The Blum 71T6550 is the ultimate problem-solver for deep kitchen cabinets, larder units and pantry cupboards. By allowing the cabinet door to swing completely clear of the storage opening, it provides unrestricted access to shelves and ensures internal pull-out drawers can slide out smoothly without catching on the door edge.

This version has a straight hinge arm for full-overlay applications and a screw-on hinge cup for secure attachment to the door. The hinge arm connects to a compatible Blum mounting plate using the CLIP mechanism, allowing the door to be attached and removed without tools after the cup and mounting plate have been installed.

The 71T6550 does not contain integrated soft-close. Where damped closing is required, the compatible Blum 973A6000 BLUMOTION unit can be clipped onto the hinge separately.

Maximum Accessibility & Clearance

Engineered from heavy-duty nickel-plated steel, this wide-angle hinge is built to handle wider and heavier utility doors. Its specialised wide-angle articulation mechanism is a trade favourite for bespoke kitchen builds, premium larder units and utility room storage systems where a standard 110° hinge would restrict access to the full cabinet interior.

Trade tip: If your project requires an integrated soft-close feature, slide a compatible Blum 973A6000 clip-on BLUMOTION damper directly onto the hinge arm. Ensure complete stability by pairing this hinge with genuine Blum cruciform mounting plates.

Mounting plate required

A compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate is required and is sold separately. Mounting-plate height and drilling position should be selected according to the required door overlay and cabinet construction.

Front thickness, drilling distance and the minimum required door gap are related. Blum recommends carrying out a trial application for fronts over 22mm thick rather than relying on a universal maximum door thickness.

Optional soft-close

This is a sprung hinge without integrated damping. Add the purpose-designed Blum 973A6000 clip-on BLUMOTION damper when soft-close operation is required.

Optional opening-angle restriction

Where the full 170° movement is unnecessary, the compatible Blum 70.6103 opening-angle stop reduces the hinge opening to approximately 130°.

Alternative fixing method

For an overlay wide-angle hinge with a knock-in cup, see the Blum 71T6580 170° overlay knock-in hinge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the 71T6550 include soft-close?

No. It is a sprung hinge without integrated BLUMOTION. The compatible 973A6000 clip-on damper is available separately.

Is the mounting plate included?

No. This listing is for one hinge. A compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate must be ordered separately.

Is the complete installation tool-free?

No. The hinge cup and mounting plate require mechanical fixing. The tool-free feature applies to attaching and removing the hinge arm from the mounting plate.

Can the 170° opening angle be reduced?

Yes. The optional Blum 70.6103 opening-angle stop reduces the opening to approximately 130°.

Will this hinge suit a 24mm door?

It may be suitable, but the required gap depends on the front thickness, drilling distance and cabinet arrangement. Blum recommends a trial application for fronts over 22mm thick.

Where is a 170° hinge commonly used?

Wide-angle hinges are frequently used on corner cabinets, larder units, pantry cupboards and storage units where unrestricted access to the cabinet interior is important. For furniture accessible to young children, Blum advises using a suitable 155° zero-protrusion hinge instead.
