Blum 71T6680 CLIP top 170° Half-Overlay Sprung Knock-In Hinge

The Blum 71T6680 is a wide-angle, sprung cabinet hinge for dual or half-overlay applications where two doors share the same central cabinet partition. Its 170° opening angle allows the door to swing almost completely clear of the cabinet opening, providing improved access to wide cupboards, larder units and corner-cabinet interiors.

The hinge has a self-closing spring and Blum’s tool-free CLIP connection between the hinge arm and mounting plate. The hinge cup uses a knock-in fixing with pre-fitted dowels for installation into a correctly prepared three-hole drilling pattern.

This version does not include integrated BLUMOTION. Soft close can be added separately using the compatible Blum 973A6000 clip-on BLUMOTION unit.

What is a dual or half-overlay hinge?

A dual hinge is used where two cabinet doors share one central partition. Each closed door covers only part of the partition’s front edge, allowing a door to be fitted on either side. This arrangement is also commonly called half-overlay or partial overlay.

How does the knock-in fixing work?

The knock-in version has pre-fitted dowels on the hinge cup. The door must be prepared with a 35mm hinge-cup bore and two correctly positioned fixing holes. The hinge is then pressed into the prepared three-hole pattern using suitable insertion equipment.

“Knock-in” describes the hinge-cup fixing; it does not describe the mounting plate. A compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate must be ordered separately.

Door thickness and planning

Blum’s standard calculations state that no minimum door gap is required for front thicknesses up to 21mm when using the factory setting. For fronts exceeding 22mm, a trial installation is recommended because the required gap and clearance depend on the drilling distance, door-edge radius and mounting-plate position.

Doors up to 24mm thick may be possible with the correct planning, but clearance should always be checked before boring every door.

Safety information

Blum recommends using its 155° zero-protrusion hinges instead where young children have access to furniture fitted with wide-angle hinges. A separate Blum 70.6103 opening-angle stop is also available to restrict this hinge to approximately 130° where the full opening movement is unnecessary.
