PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Blum 79B9698 +45° Type I Half-Overlay Angled Hinge
The Blum 79B9698 is a specialised CLIP top BLUMOTION hinge for +45° Type I angled cabinet applications. It is principally designed for corner cabinets with set-back fronts using a dual or half-overlay door configuration.
The +45° designation refers to the angle between the cabinet side and door front—not the door’s opening angle. Once installed, the cabinet door opens to approximately 95°.
Integrated BLUMOTION soft close
BLUMOTION is integrated into the hinge cup, providing controlled and quiet closing regardless of the door’s closing speed.
The BLUMOTION function can be switched off on individual hinges when required, which is useful for smaller or lighter doors where full damping may not be necessary.
Tool-free INSERTA installation
The INSERTA system secures the hinge cup into the prepared door without conventional fixing screws. The expanding fixings lock into two 8mm holes alongside the 35mm hinge-cup boring.
A compatible cabinet mounting plate is required separately. Blum’s standard 45° Type I planning examples use a 0mm 173H7100 CLIP mounting plate, although the correct plate must be confirmed against the cabinet construction and required overlay.

Frequently asked questions
What does +45° Type I mean?
It identifies the hinge geometry used for a specific +45° angled-cabinet arrangement with a half-overlay door, commonly found on corner cabinets with set-back fronts.
Does the door only open 45°?
No. The +45° figure describes the cabinet/front angle. The door itself opens to approximately 95°.
What does half-overlay mean?
A half-overlay application normally has two doors sharing a central cabinet panel, with each door covering part of the panel edge.
Does the hinge include soft close?
Yes. BLUMOTION soft close is integrated into the hinge cup and can be switched off when required.
What is INSERTA fixing?
INSERTA allows the hinge cup to be secured into prepared holes without conventional fixing screws.
What drilling is required?
The hinge requires a 35mm cup bored 13mm deep, together with two 8mm INSERTA fixing holes on 45mm centres.
Is a mounting plate included?
No. One hinge is supplied. The correct CLIP mounting plate must be ordered separately.
Which mounting plate should I use?
Blum’s standard 45° Type I examples use a 0mm plate, but the required plate depends on the cabinet dimensions, front overlay and drilling position.
Will this fit every 45° corner cabinet?
Not automatically. Type I, Type II and Type III angled hinges have different geometries. The cabinet construction should be checked against Blum’s planning information before ordering.
Can this be mixed with ordinary CLIP top hinges on the same door?
Blum advises against mixing CLIP top BLUMOTION and standard CLIP top hinges on the same door.
