PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
1834 × 51mm Polished Grade 304 Stainless Steel Continuous Hinge
This polished stainless steel continuous hinge, also known as a piano hinge, measures 1834mm long and 51mm wide when fully open. It is manufactured from Grade 304 stainless steel, equivalent to 1.4301/AISI 304, and incorporates a stainless-steel hinge pin.
The hinge provides continuous support along an extended hinged edge. Its broad 51mm open width offers an increased fixing surface compared with the narrower 32mm and 38mm versions, making it useful for suitable cabinets, long lids, cases, doors and access panels requiring wider leaves.
This light-duty hinge has 36 factory-produced countersunk fixing holes. Use suitable 4mm-diameter countersunk screws selected for the substrate and application. Screws must be ordered separately.
The hinge has a 5mm closed projection or depth. This measurement must not be presented as the leaf thickness because the leaf gauge is not confirmed.
The polished stainless finish provides a clean silver appearance, while the declared CP Grade 4 corrosion performance supports use in appropriately assessed environments. Regular lubrication is required for smooth operation.
Supplied as one complete 1834mm hinge. Professional cutting may be possible where a shorter length is required.

Typical applications
- Cabinet and cupboard doors
- Furniture and fitted joinery
- Long lids and covers
- Storage boxes and equipment cases
- Display cabinets
- Inspection and access panels
- Light-duty doors and enclosures
- Applications requiring broad fixing leaves
Why use a 51mm continuous hinge?
A continuous hinge supports the hinged edge along its length instead of concentrating movement at separate hinge positions. The 51mm open width provides broader fixing leaves than the 32mm and 38mm versions while helping maintain alignment across a long lid, door or panel.
Cutting, installation and care
- Confirm that the dimensions and light-duty specification suit the application.
- Measure and mark any required finished length.
- Use suitable stainless-steel cutting equipment and appropriate protective equipment.
- Remove sharp edges and metal swarf after cutting.
- Align the complete hinge before marking the fixing positions.
- Use suitable 4mm-diameter countersunk screws for the substrate.
- Test movement and alignment before final tightening.
- Lubricate the hinge regularly with a compatible product.
Fixing screws are ordered separately and must not be advertised as included.
Questions and answers
What size is this continuous hinge?
It measures 1834mm long and 51mm wide when fully open. Its closed projection or depth is 5mm.
Is the hinge 5mm thick?
No. The 5mm measurement is its closed projection or depth. The leaf thickness is not confirmed and must not be advertised.
What grade of stainless steel is used?
It is manufactured from Grade 304 stainless steel, equivalent to 1.4301/AISI 304.
What material is the hinge pin?
The hinge pin is stainless steel. Its diameter is not confirmed.
How many fixing holes does it have?
There are 36 factory-produced countersunk fixing holes per complete hinge.
What screws should be used?
Use suitable 4mm-diameter countersunk screws. Select the correct length and material for the substrate and environment.
Are fixing screws included?
No. Fixing screws must be ordered separately.
Can the hinge be shortened?
Professional cutting may be possible using suitable stainless-steel equipment. Cutting can alter end-hole positions, so check the required fixing layout first.
Does it require maintenance?
Yes. Regular lubrication is required to support smooth operation.
Is it suitable outdoors?
Grade 304 stainless steel and CP Grade 4 provide useful corrosion performance, but suitability still depends on exposure, compatible fixings and maintenance. Do not describe it as marine grade or corrosion-proof.
Is it fire rated or load rated?
No fire-door rating, security classification or certified load capacity is declared for this product.
