PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
3500 × 40mm Brass-Plated Steel Continuous Piano Hinge
This straight rolled piano hinge, also known as a continuous hinge, measures 3500mm long and 40mm wide when fully open. It is manufactured from steel with a decorative brass-plated finish.
Piano hinges were originally developed for the long keyboard covers and lids fitted to pianos. They are now widely used for cabinets, furniture, counters, long lids, access panels and fitted joinery where support is required along an extended hinged edge.
The unusually long 3500mm format is suitable for large or bespoke projects and may reduce the need to join several shorter hinges. It is supplied with pre-drilled fixing holes and has a 22mm knuckle length.
The brass plating provides a traditional warm gold-toned appearance. This product is brass-plated steel and not solid brass. Cutting or drilling can expose the steel beneath the plated surface, so suitable protection should be applied to exposed edges where corrosion could occur.
Supplied as one complete 3500mm hinge. It may be cut to a shorter required length using appropriate metal-cutting equipment.

Why use a continuous hinge?
A continuous hinge supports the hinged edge across its length instead of concentrating movement at several separate hinge positions. This can help maintain alignment and distribute movement along a long lid, door or panel.
Cutting and installation
- Confirm the hinge dimensions and construction suit the application.
- Support the full 3500mm length before measuring or cutting.
- Use suitable steel-cutting equipment and appropriate protective equipment.
- Remove sharp edges and metal swarf after cutting.
- Apply suitable protection to exposed cut steel where corrosion may occur.
- Align the complete hinge before marking fixing positions.
- Select fixings suitable for the holes, substrate and intended use.
- Test movement and alignment before final tightening.
Fixing screws are not confirmed as included. The correct screw gauge and length must be selected for the physical hinge and substrate.
Questions and answers
What size is this piano hinge?
It measures 3500mm long and 40mm wide when fully open. Its knuckle length is 22mm.
Is this hinge solid brass?
No. It is manufactured from steel with a decorative brass-plated finish.
What does straight rolled mean?
It describes the conventional continuous piano-hinge construction, with two straight rolled leaves joined around the hinge pin.
Does it have fixing holes?
Yes. The hinge is supplied with pre-drilled fixing holes.
What size screws are required?
The screw gauge is not confirmed. Select suitable fixings by checking the physical holes and considering the substrate and application.
Can the hinge be shortened?
Yes. It may be cut with suitable metal-cutting equipment. Cutting exposes the steel beneath the plating, so protect the cut edge where necessary.
Why choose a 3500mm hinge?
The extra-long length can provide continuous support for large doors, lids, counters or panels without joining several shorter hinges.
Is it suitable outdoors?
No exterior corrosion rating is declared. Brass plating is decorative and cutting or damage can expose the steel beneath, so do not describe it as weatherproof or corrosion-proof.
Is it fire rated or load rated?
No fire-door certification, security classification or certified load capacity is declared for this product.
Are fixing screws included?
Fixing screws are not confirmed as included.
