Blum 79B9550 Onyx Black 95° Inset Blind-Corner Hinge

The Blum 79B9550 is a specialist CLIP top BLUMOTION hinge for inset blind-corner cabinet doors. Its extended blind-corner geometry allows the door to be attached to an inset muntin or fixed internal cabinet panel, where an ordinary inset hinge would not provide the correct mounting arrangement.

This version has a traditional screw-on 35mm hinge cup. Integrated, switchable BLUMOTION provides smooth, controlled soft closing, while the Onyx Black finish complements dark cabinet interiors and contemporary furniture designs.

Technical specifications

Mounting-plate requirement

The hinge cup screws directly to the cabinet door, but the hinge arm requires a separate Blum CLIP mounting plate. For the standard inset blind-corner installation, use a 3mm-spaced mounting plate.

Blum specifies that the normal mounting-plate fixing positions are moved 15.5mm towards the edge of the muntin, producing a 21.5mm mounting setback. This enables the door and fixed panel to align correctly inside the cabinet.

The required reveal is calculated using: F = 8mm minus the hinge-cup drilling distance (TB). Check the door thickness, drilling distance, finished gap and opening clearance before production drilling.

A matching option is the Blum 3mm Onyx CLIP cruciform mounting plate. The mounting plate is sold separately.

Screw-on cup installation

Prepare a 35mm-diameter hinge-cup hole to a depth of 13mm. The two hinge-cup fixing positions are arranged on 45mm centres with a 9.5mm offset from the cup centre line.

Use screws suitable for the door material and avoid overtightening, particularly when installing the hinge into MDF or particleboard.
