Blum CLIP top 95° unsprung hinge for thick and profiled doors

The Blum 70T9580.TL CLIP top hinge is designed for thick, heavily profiled and decorative wooden cabinet fronts that require more clearance than a conventional 110° cabinet hinge can provide. Its specialist long-arm geometry and controlled 95° opening help reduce the risk of thick door edges or raised mouldings contacting the adjoining cabinet front.

This straight-arm version is intended for overlay applications. It is suitable for kitchen doors, wardrobes, bedroom furniture and bespoke cabinetry with front thicknesses up to approximately 30mm. For thicker doors or unusually deep decorative profiles, Blum recommends completing a trial installation to check the reveal, opening clearance and mounting position.

The hinge has an unsprung or free-swing mechanism. It does not pull the door closed and does not contain integrated BLUMOTION soft close. This makes it suitable for compatible handleless push-to-open arrangements where the door must move freely without resistance from a closing spring.

Its Onyx Black finish provides a discreet appearance on dark doors, dark cabinet interiors and design-led furniture. The finish is especially effective where the hinge may remain partially visible when the cabinet door is open.

Why use a 95° hinge on a thick door?

Thick doors and fronts with raised mouldings can project further into the cabinet opening as they rotate. The 95° hinge geometry provides additional clearance and limits the opening movement, helping prevent a thick door edge or decorative profile from striking an adjacent front.

Final clearance depends on the door thickness, cup drilling distance, mounting plate height and shape of the door profile. Trial fitting is recommended whenever the front has an unusually deep moulding or exceeds 30mm in thickness.

Knock-in hinge cup fixing

The knock-in version uses pre-mounted dowels that press into the correctly drilled fixing holes around the 35mm hinge cup. It is intended for accurate production drilling and provides fast, consistent installation without separate hinge-cup screws.
