Blum 71B950A CLIP top BLUMOTION Overlay Aluminium-Frame Hinge

The Blum 71B950A is a 95° concealed hinge for narrow aluminium-profile cabinet doors in an overlay application. It positions the closed door over the cabinet side, making it suitable for cabinets where the aluminium-framed front is intended to conceal most of the carcase edge.

BLUMOTION soft close is integrated into the hinge arm, allowing the door to close smoothly and quietly without a separate damper. The damping function can also be switched off at an individual hinge, helping installers adjust the closing performance for different door sizes and weights.

What is an overlay application?

An overlay hinge positions the closed door in front of the cabinet side. The aluminium-framed front therefore covers most of the cabinet edge rather than sitting inside the cabinet opening.

The exact overlay depends on the cabinet construction, mounting-plate height, aluminium profile dimensions and hinge adjustment. Check the intended overlay and door clearances using the Blum planning information before machining the profiles.

Integrated BLUMOTION soft close

BLUMOTION slows the door during the final part of the closing movement. This produces a controlled, quiet close and helps reduce impact on the aluminium frame, door panel and cabinet.

The BLUMOTION function can be deactivated using the switch on the hinge. This is useful when a small or lightweight door closes too slowly with every hinge damper operating.

Use the appropriate number of matching CLIP top BLUMOTION hinges on each door. Do not combine BLUMOTION and non-BLUMOTION hinges on the same door.

Made for narrow aluminium-profile doors

The 71B950A has a shaped fixing boss manufactured specifically for routed aluminium door profiles. It is not a standard round 35 mm cup hinge and should not be fitted as though it were a conventional timber, MDF or chipboard door hinge.

Blum’s planning table covers different combinations of aluminium side-frame width and frame thickness. Door clearance and minimum gap requirements change according to the selected profile. A trial installation is recommended where the profile dimensions approach the limits shown in the planning information.

Installation and adjustment

The shaped boss is secured to the prepared aluminium profile using the supplied fixing screws. The hinge arm then clips onto a compatible Blum mounting plate without tools, allowing the assembled door to be attached or removed without disturbing the plate.

Side, depth and height adjustment allow the door overlay and gaps to be refined after installation. The spiral depth-adjustment screw provides controlled adjustment without needing to loosen the hinge from the mounting plate.

Mounting plate required

The cabinet mounting plate is not supplied with this hinge. Choose the correct plate height and fixing pattern from our Blum CLIP top mounting plates.
