Blum 73B3550 110° Large-Overlay Hinge with BLUMOTION

The Blum 73B3550 CLIP top BLUMOTION special hinge is designed for full-overlay cabinet doors that require a larger-than-standard overlay, particularly on cabinets with thick side panels. Its specialist hinge geometry helps the closed door cover more of the cabinet side than a standard straight-arm overlay hinge.

This nickel-plated concealed hinge combines a practical 110° opening angle with integrated BLUMOTION soft closing. It has a traditional screw-on 35mm hinge cup and connects to a compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate without tools.

Why is the 73B3550 a special hinge?

The 73B3550 has specialist geometry that provides an increased overlay for cabinets with thicker side panels. Its 13mm fixed dimension is larger than the 11mm dimension of the standard Blum 71B3550 full-overlay hinge.

This makes the 73B3550 useful when a standard overlay hinge cannot position the door far enough across the cabinet side. The required mounting-plate height, boring distance, door thickness and finished gap must still be checked during cabinet planning. Blum recommends a trial installation for the final application.

Integrated BLUMOTION soft close

BLUMOTION is built into the hinge cup and provides a smooth, quiet and controlled closing movement. The mechanism can be deactivated on individual hinges when necessary, helping to optimise the closing action on smaller or lighter doors.

Screw-on hinge-cup fixing

The 35mm hinge cup is secured to the back of the cabinet door with suitable screws through the hinge flange. The screw-fixing holes have 45mm centres. This traditional fixing method is suitable for new cabinet production and replacement installations where a mechanical screw fixing is preferred.

“Screw-on” describes the way the hinge cup attaches to the door. It does not describe the fixing method of the separate mounting plate.

Mounting plate and door adjustment

This hinge connects to a compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate. The CLIP mechanism allows the door to be fitted and removed without disturbing the adjustment settings. With an appropriate plate, the installed door can be adjusted for height, side position and depth.

The correct plate must be selected according to cabinet construction, required overlay, door thickness, boring distance and desired finished gap.
