PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
125° BLUMOTION hinge for thick and profiled cabinet doors
The Blum 71B7550D CLIP top BLUMOTION hinge is designed for overlay cabinet doors with thick, profiled or mitred fronts. Its specialised geometry combines a wide 125° opening angle with zero protrusion at 90° when used in a correctly planned overlay application.
Zero protrusion means the open door can sit clear of the cabinet opening at 90°, making this hinge particularly useful for cabinets containing internal drawers or pull-outs. Integrated BLUMOTION provides smooth, controlled soft closing and can be switched off on individual hinges when required.

Door thickness and installation planning
This hinge is intended for fronts whose thickness or profile makes a conventional concealed hinge unsuitable. For planning purposes, it is commonly specified for fronts up to approximately 31mm at the full 125° opening angle.
Thicker fronts approaching 39mm may be possible when the Blum 70T7553 92° opening-angle stop is fitted. Actual suitability depends on the front profile, cup drilling distance, required gap, mounting-plate height and surrounding clearances. A trial fitting should always be completed before machining all the doors.
The zero-protrusion condition applies at 90° in a correctly planned overlay application. At the full 125° opening angle, the door continues beyond this position, so clearance from adjacent walls, panels and handles must still be checked.
Mounting plate and fixings
A mounting plate is not included. Choose a compatible plate from the Blum CLIP mounting-plate range according to the required overlay and cabinet construction.
The screw-on hinge cup is normally installed with suitable 3.5 × 17mm chipboard screws. Screws, mounting plate, angle restrictor and decorative cover caps are sold separately. The compatible Blum 70T7504 boss cover cap can be added for a neater installation.
Alternative versions
- Choose the Onyx black 71B7550D hinge for dark cabinetry or contrasting hardware.
- For standard-thickness doors requiring a wider opening angle, consider the Blum 71B7550 155° zero-protrusion hinge.
- Visit the Blum hinge guide for help comparing applications, opening angles and fixing options.
Frequently asked questions
What type of door is the Blum 71B7550D designed for?
It is designed for thick, profiled and mitred cabinet fronts. Despite the word “profile” in its description, it is not specifically an aluminium profile-frame hinge.
What does zero protrusion mean?
In a correctly planned overlay application, the door sits clear of the cabinet opening at 90°. This allows internal drawers or pull-outs to move past the open door.
Does the hinge still open to 125°?
Yes. The hinge has a maximum opening angle of 125°. The zero-protrusion position is specified at 90°, so surrounding clearance must also be checked when the door opens beyond 90°.
What drilling is required for the hinge cup?
The screw-on cup requires a 35mm hole with a minimum drilling depth of 11.7mm. Blum specifies a 3–8mm cup drilling distance for the overlay application, subject to the complete installation geometry.
Can the BLUMOTION soft-close function be switched off?
Yes. Integrated BLUMOTION can be deactivated on individual hinges using the switch on the hinge cup.
What is the maximum suitable door thickness?
This depends on the front profile and installation geometry. The hinge is commonly used for fronts up to approximately 31mm at 125°. Fronts approaching 39mm may be possible with the Blum 70T7553 92° opening-angle stop, but a trial fitting is essential.
Is a mounting plate included?
No. The product contains one hinge. The compatible CLIP mounting plate, fixing screws, opening-angle stop and decorative cover caps are sold separately.
