The Blum 71T6540B CLIP top hinge provides an exceptionally wide 170° opening angle for full-overlay cabinet doors. It is ideal for corner cabinets, wide-opening cupboards and furniture where the door needs to open almost flat against the adjacent cabinet or panel.

This is a sprung, self-closing hinge. The internal spring pulls the cabinet door into its closed position, but the hinge does not contain integrated BLUMOTION soft-close damping. Soft close can be added using the compatible Blum 973A6000 clip-on BLUMOTION damper, available separately.

Tool-free INSERTA hinge-cup fixing

The 71T6540B uses Blum's INSERTA fixing system to secure the hinge cup to a correctly drilled cabinet door without conventional cup-fixing screws. Once positioned in the prepared drilling pattern, the integrated locking mechanism expands the fixings and holds the hinge securely.

INSERTA refers to the connection between the hinge cup and the cabinet door. A compatible cabinet-side Blum CLIP mounting plate is still required and must be ordered separately.

Technical attributes

Wide opening without integrated soft close

The sprung mechanism closes the cabinet door automatically but does not slow the closing movement. For a quieter, more controlled close, add the compatible Blum 973A6000 damper. The damper clips directly onto the hinge arm without replacing the hinge.

Important difference between 170° and 0-protrusion hinges

A 170° opening gives exceptionally wide access, but it does not automatically provide a 0-protrusion movement. If internal drawers or pull-out shelves must pass an open door, check the cabinet planning carefully. A Blum 155° 0-protrusion hinge may be the more suitable choice.

Blum also advises using a 155° 0-protrusion hinge instead of a standard 170° hinge on furniture that can be accessed by young children.
