PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
1834 × 32 × 1mm Aluminium Continuous Hinge
This light-duty aluminium continuous hinge, also known as a piano hinge, measures 1834mm long and 32mm wide when fully open. It has 1mm-thick aluminium leaves, a natural self-colour finish and a stainless-steel hinge pin.
The hinge provides continuous support along an extended hinged edge. Its lightweight aluminium construction and compact 32mm open width make it suitable for cabinets, furniture, boxes, long lids, equipment cases and access panels.
The correct fixing-hole quantity is 62 holes per hinge, not 52. The factory-produced holes are countersunk for suitable 2.5mm-diameter screws. Fixing screws must be ordered separately.
The stainless-steel hinge pin measures 2.3mm in diameter. The hinge has a 4mm closed projection or depth; this measurement must not be presented as the leaf thickness, which is 1mm.
Supplied as one complete 1834mm hinge. Professional cutting may be possible where a shorter length is required. Regular lubrication is required to support smooth operation.

Why use an aluminium continuous hinge?
An aluminium continuous hinge provides extended support without the weight of an equivalent steel component. Supporting the hinged edge along its length can help distribute movement and maintain alignment across a long lid, door or panel.
Cutting, installation and care
- Confirm that the dimensions and light-duty specification suit the application.
- Measure and mark any required finished length.
- Use suitable aluminium-cutting equipment and appropriate protective equipment.
- Remove sharp edges and metal swarf after cutting.
- Align the complete hinge before marking the fixing positions.
- Use suitable 2.5mm-diameter countersunk screws for the substrate.
- Use corrosion-compatible fixings where dissimilar metals may contact.
- Test movement and alignment before final tightening.
- Lubricate the hinge regularly with a compatible product.
Fixing screws are ordered separately and must not be advertised as included.
Questions and answers
What size is this continuous hinge?
It measures 1834mm long, 32mm wide when fully open and has 1mm-thick leaves.
Is the hinge 4mm thick?
No. The 4mm measurement is its closed projection or depth. The aluminium leaf thickness is 1mm.
How many fixing holes does it have?
It has 62 factory-produced countersunk fixing holes per complete hinge. The previous 52-hole description was incorrect.
What screws should be used?
Use suitable 2.5mm-diameter countersunk screws. Select the correct material and length for the substrate and environment.
What material is the hinge pin?
The hinge pin is stainless steel and measures 2.3mm in diameter.
Are fixing screws included?
No. Fixing screws must be ordered separately.
Can the hinge be shortened?
Professional cutting may be possible using suitable aluminium-cutting equipment. Cutting can alter the end-hole positions, so check the required fixing layout first.
Does it require maintenance?
Yes. Regular lubrication is required to support smooth operation.
Is it suitable outdoors?
Suitability depends on exposure, adjoining materials, compatible fixings and maintenance. Do not describe the hinge as corrosion-proof or marine grade.
Is it fire rated or load rated?
No fire-door rating, security classification or certified load capacity is declared for this product.
