PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

1834 × 38 × 0.9mm Polished Brass Continuous Hinge

This polished brass continuous hinge, also known as a piano hinge, measures 1834mm long and 38mm wide when fully open. Its 0.9mm-thick brass leaves provide continuous support along an extended hinged edge.

The polished brass finish gives the hinge a warm decorative appearance suited to furniture, cabinets, display joinery, long lids and other interior applications where the hinge may remain visible.

This light/medium-duty hinge has 36 factory-produced countersunk fixing holes. Use suitable 2.5mm-diameter countersunk screws, selected for the substrate and application. Screws must be ordered separately.

The hinge has a 6mm closed projection or depth. This measurement must not be presented as the leaf thickness, which is 0.9mm.

Supplied as one complete 1834mm hinge. It may be professionally cut to a shorter length using equipment suitable for brass. Regular lubrication is required to support smooth operation.

Why use a continuous hinge?

A continuous hinge supports the hinged edge along its length instead of concentrating movement at several separate hinge positions. This can help distribute movement and maintain alignment across a long door, lid or panel.

Cutting, installation and care

  1. Confirm that the hinge dimensions and duty level suit the application.
  2. Measure and mark any required finished length.
  3. Use suitable brass-cutting equipment and appropriate protective equipment.
  4. Remove sharp edges and metal swarf after cutting.
  5. Align the complete hinge before marking the fixing positions.
  6. Use suitable 2.5mm-diameter countersunk screws for the substrate.
  7. Test movement and alignment before final tightening.
  8. Lubricate the hinge regularly with a suitable product.

Fixing screws are ordered separately and must not be advertised as included.

Questions and answers

What size is this continuous hinge?

It measures 1834mm long, 38mm wide when fully open and has 0.9mm-thick leaves.

What does the 6mm measurement represent?

It is the hinge's closed projection or depth. It is not the leaf thickness.

Is this solid brass or brass-plated steel?

The specified material is brass with a polished finish. Do not describe it as brass-plated steel.

How many fixing holes does it have?

There are 36 factory-produced countersunk fixing holes per complete hinge.

What screws should be used?

Use suitable 2.5mm-diameter countersunk screws. Select the correct screw material and length for the substrate and application.

Are fixing screws included?

No. The fixing screws must be ordered separately.

Can the hinge be shortened?

Yes. It may be professionally cut using equipment suitable for brass. Remove all sharp edges and swarf after cutting.

Does it require maintenance?

Yes. Regular lubrication is required to support smooth operation.

Is it suitable for external use?

Suitability depends on exposure, adjoining materials, fixings and maintenance. The polished finish will naturally change with handling and environmental exposure.

Is it fire rated or load rated?

No fire-door rating, security classification or certified load capacity is declared for this product.
