Blum 71B3690 CLIP top BLUMOTION 110° Half-Overlay INSERTA Hinge

The Blum 71B3690 is a soft-close concealed hinge for dual or half-overlay cabinet-door applications. Its half-cranked hinge arm is designed for installations where two doors share the same central cabinet panel and each door overlays part of that panel.

The hinge opens to 110° and incorporates Blum’s BLUMOTION damping system for smooth, controlled closing. BLUMOTION can be switched off on individual hinges when reduced damping is required for a small or lightweight door.

This version uses Blum’s INSERTA tool-free hinge-cup fixing. The 35mm cup and expanding fittings lock into an accurately prepared door without conventional hinge-cup screws.

Once the cup is installed, the hinge arm connects to a compatible Blum CLIP cabinet mounting plate without tools. This allows the complete door to be removed and refitted without releasing the INSERTA cup.

Supplied as one hinge. The cabinet mounting plate and cabinet fixings are sold separately.

What is a half-overlay application?

A half-overlay hinge is normally used where two cabinet doors are attached to opposite sides of the same central cabinet panel. Each door covers only part of the panel, allowing both doors to close without colliding.

“Dual” does not mean that one door overlays both sides of a cabinet. It describes two separate doors sharing one cabinet partition.

How INSERTA fixing works

The cabinet door must be prepared with a 35mm hinge-cup bore and two additional 8mm holes positioned on 45mm centres. Insert the hinge into this complete drilling pattern and operate the INSERTA locking mechanism to secure the expanding fittings inside the door.

INSERTA cannot be fitted correctly into a single plain 35mm cup hole. All three drillings must be present and accurately positioned.

Application planning

The finished door overlay depends on the cabinet-panel thickness, door thickness, cup-drilling distance and selected mounting-plate height. Check the actual cabinet construction and complete a trial installation before drilling multiple doors.
