Blum 71B3780 CLIP top BLUMOTION 110° Inset Knock-In Hinge

The Blum 71B3780 is a soft-close concealed hinge for inset cabinet doors that close within the cabinet opening. Its fully cranked hinge arm provides the geometry required for a correctly planned inset installation.

The hinge opens to 110° and incorporates Blum’s BLUMOTION damping system for smooth, controlled closing. BLUMOTION can be switched off on individual hinges when less damping is required for a small or lightweight door.

This version has a 35mm steel hinge cup with pre-mounted knock-in dowels. The cup is installed into an accurately prepared three-hole drilling pattern using suitable insertion equipment, making it particularly suitable for workshop and production environments.

Once the cup is fitted, the hinge arm connects to a compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate without tools. This allows the complete door to be removed and refitted without disturbing the cup fixing.

Supplied as one hinge with pre-mounted cup-fixing dowels. The cabinet mounting plate and cabinet fixings are sold separately.

Knock-in installation

The door must be prepared with a 35mm hinge-cup bore and two accurately positioned 8mm dowel holes on 45mm centres. The pre-mounted dowels are pressed into these holes using suitable hinge-insertion equipment.

Knock-in does not mean the hinge can be installed without preparation or simply hammered into a standard screw-on cup drilling. Correct drilling and controlled insertion help prevent damage to the hinge, dowels and cabinet door.

Inset-door planning

An inset door closes within the cabinet opening rather than overlaying the cabinet side panels. The required surrounding gap depends on the door thickness, edge profile, cup-drilling distance, mounting-plate position and cabinet construction.

The mounting plate must be positioned correctly for the actual door thickness and required inset position. Complete a trial installation before drilling a full set of doors.
