Blum 79B9580 Onyx 95° Inset Blind-Corner Hinge

The Blum 79B9580 is a specialist CLIP top BLUMOTION hinge for inset blind-corner cabinet doors. Its dedicated hinge-arm geometry allows a door to be mounted to an inset muntin or fixed cabinet panel where an ordinary inset or overlay hinge would not provide the correct positioning.

The hinge opens to 95° and incorporates Blum's integrated, switchable BLUMOTION soft-close mechanism. A sprung closing mechanism pulls the door closed while BLUMOTION controls the final movement.

This Onyx black version has a knock-in 35mm hinge cup with pre-fitted fixing dowels. The dowels are pressed into accurately prepared holes using suitable insertion equipment. Knock-in fixing should not be confused with Blum's tool-free INSERTA system.

Blind-corner mounting requirements

Blum specifies a 3mm-spaced standard CLIP mounting plate for the planned inset blind-corner application. The normal mounting-plate fixing positions are moved 15.5mm towards the edge of the muntin, producing a stated mounting setback of 21.5mm.

The required reveal is calculated using F = 8mm minus the hinge-cup drilling distance. The front thickness, cup drilling distance, muntin position and operating gap must therefore be checked together.

Knock-in installation

The knock-in fixing bosses are pressed into two accurately drilled 8mm holes positioned alongside the 35mm cup recess. Suitable insertion equipment should be used to seat the hinge evenly without damaging the door or hinge cup.

The term knock-in describes the hinge-to-door fixing. The hinge arm still attaches to a separate Blum CLIP mounting plate.

Front-thickness planning

Blum's planning table covers front thicknesses from 16mm to 32mm. Trial fitting is specifically recommended for 29–32mm fronts and for doors with profiles or edge radii that could reduce the operating clearance.
