The Blum 75T158E is a sprung CLIP top concealed hinge for full-overlay cabinet doors. It combines a practical 107° opening angle with Blum’s EXPANDO split-dowel cup fixing, making it suitable for accurately pre-drilled cabinet doors in kitchens, bedrooms and fitted furniture.

This is a sprung, self-closing hinge without BLUMOTION. Its internal spring pulls the door into the closed position, but it does not contain a soft-close damper.

Full-overlay cabinet door application

The straight hinge arm is intended for full-overlay cabinet doors, where the closed door covers most or all of the cabinet side panel. The final overlay is determined by the selected mounting plate, the cup drilling distance and the cabinet construction.

A compatible plate can be selected from our Blum CLIP mounting plates. The mounting plate is not supplied with this hinge.

How the EXPANDO fixing works

The hinge is supplied with pre-mounted EXPANDO split dowels and fixing screws. Installation requires a 35mm cup bore together with two accurately positioned 8mm fixing holes. Once the hinge is positioned, turning the pre-mounted screws expands the split dowels inside the drilled holes and secures the hinge cup.

EXPANDO reduces the need for loose fixing components, but it is not a completely tool-free fixing. A suitable screwdriver is required to tighten the screws and expand the dowels.

Standard EXPANDO is not EXPANDO T

This hinge uses Blum’s standard EXPANDO cup fixing and should not be confused with the newer EXPANDO T system for very thin fronts.

The 75T158E requires a conventional 35mm hinge cup bore and is intended for standard cabinet-door construction. EXPANDO T uses a different attachment method without a conventional hinge cup and is designed for suitable thin-front materials.

Sprung closing without soft close

The internal spring pulls the door closed and holds it in the shut position. This is different from BLUMOTION, which uses an additional damping mechanism to slow the door during the final stage of closing.

CLIP top fitting and adjustment

Once the mounting plate is installed, the hinge arm clips onto it without having to undo the plate screws. This makes door installation and removal faster while retaining the adjustment settings.

Side, height and depth adjustment allow the installer to align adjoining doors and produce consistent cabinet gaps. The available height adjustment depends on the mounting plate selected.

Choosing between EXPANDO and knock-in fixing

The 75T158E uses expanding dowels that are secured by tightening their pre-mounted screws. For production installation using press-in dowels, consider the Blum 75T1580 knock-in hinge.
