PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Blum 71T6580 CLIP Top 170° Overlay Wide-Angle Knock-In Hinge

The Blum 71T6580 CLIP top hinge is a sprung, full-overlay cabinet hinge providing a wide 170° opening angle. It allows the cabinet door to open almost flat against the adjoining cabinet, providing excellent access to wide cupboards, larder units and suitable corner-cabinet applications.

The wide opening movement is particularly useful where a conventional 110° hinge would restrict access to the cabinet interior. However, this is a standard wide-angle hinge and does not provide the 0-protrusion geometry required for every internal drawer or pull-out application.

The hinge has a sprung, self-closing mechanism that pulls the cabinet door towards the closed position. BLUMOTION is not integrated, although the compatible Blum 973A6000 clip-on BLUMOTION device can be added when dampened closing is required.

Knock-in hinge-cup fixing

The hinge uses a knock-in hinge-cup fixing for fast production installation into a correctly prepared door. The hinge cup and fixing dowels are pressed into the pre-drilled holes using suitable insertion equipment.

“Knock-in” describes the hinge-cup fixing to the door; it does not describe the cabinet mounting plate. Once the hinge is installed on the door, its arm connects to a separate Blum CLIP mounting plate without tools.

Important application information

This standard 170° hinge is not the same as a 155° 0-protrusion hinge. If a cabinet contains internal drawers or pull-out shelves, check the door protrusion carefully before selecting the hinge.

Blum advises using a 155° 0-protrusion hinge instead of a standard 170° wide-angle hinge on furniture that can be accessed or reached by young children.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Blum 71T6580 used for?

It is used on full-overlay cabinet doors requiring a very wide opening angle, including suitable larder units, wide cupboards and corner-cabinet applications.

Is the Blum 71T6580 sprung?

Yes. It has a sprung, self-closing mechanism that pulls the door towards the closed position.

Does it have integrated BLUMOTION?

No. Soft-close is not built into the hinge, but the compatible Blum 973A6000 clip-on BLUMOTION device can be ordered separately.

What does knock-in fixing mean?

The hinge cup has fixing dowels that are pressed into correctly drilled holes in the cabinet door. Suitable insertion equipment is recommended for accurate installation.

Is the knock-in fixing tool-free?

The hinge cup normally requires suitable insertion equipment. The separate CLIP connection between the hinge arm and cabinet mounting plate is tool-free.

Is this a 0-protrusion hinge?

No. For cabinets containing inner drawers or pull-out shelves, a suitable 155° 0-protrusion hinge should normally be considered instead.

Why does Blum recommend a 155° hinge where young children have access?

Blum’s safety guidance recommends 155° 0-protrusion hinges rather than standard 170° wide-angle hinges on furniture that can be reached by young children.

Can the opening angle be reduced?

Yes. The optional Blum 70.6103 opening-angle stop can restrict the hinge movement to approximately 130°.

Is the mounting plate included?

No. This product is supplied as one hinge only. A compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate must be selected and ordered separately.

Can it be used with TIP-ON?

This 71T6580 version is sprung and intended to pull the door closed. It is not the preferred configuration for a TIP-ON push-to-open application.
