PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Blum 71B9750 CLIP top BLUMOTION hinge is designed for inset cabinet doors with thick or profiled fronts. Its specialised 95° geometry helps provide the clearance required by thicker door edges, mouldings and decorative profiles, while the fully cranked hinge arm positions the closed door inside the cabinet opening.
BLUMOTION soft close is integrated into the hinge cup, so no separate damper is required. The mechanism can be switched off on individual hinges when a smaller or lighter door requires less damping. The CLIP top connection also allows the hinge arm to attach to a compatible mounting plate without tools.

What does inset mean?
With an inset application, the closed door sits inside the cabinet opening rather than covering the cabinet side. A consistent gap is therefore required around the front. The mounting-plate position, plate height, door thickness, cup drilling distance and shape of the door profile all influence the finished alignment.
Planning a thick or profiled door
Blum’s planning tables cover front thicknesses from 16mm to 32mm, but this should not be treated as universal compatibility with every door shape. The required minimum gap increases as fronts become thicker, and a raised moulding or rounded edge can alter the clearance considerably.
Check the complete door section—not only its nominal thickness—and carry out a trial installation when working near the upper end of the range or with an unusual moulded profile. This product is intended for compatible timber, MDF or panel-based fronts drilled for a 35mm cup; it is not an aluminium-frame-door hinge.
Screw-on cup and separate mounting plate
“Screw-on” describes how the hinge cup is fixed to the door. It does not mean that a mounting plate is attached to the hinge. A compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate must be selected separately to suit the cabinet construction, fixing method and required inset position.
The hinge is supplied individually. The mounting plate and fixing screws are not included.
Switchable BLUMOTION
The integrated BLUMOTION mechanism provides controlled soft closing and can be switched off at an individual hinge when necessary. Blum advises against combining CLIP top BLUMOTION hinges and standard CLIP top hinges on the same door. Use matching 71B-series hinges throughout each door installation.

Frequently asked questions
What type of door is the Blum 71B9750 designed for?
It is designed for inset cabinet doors with thick or profiled timber, MDF or panel-based fronts. It is not an aluminium-frame-door hinge.
What does an inset hinge do?
An inset hinge positions the closed door inside the cabinet opening rather than allowing it to cover the cabinet side.
What door thickness can the 71B9750 accommodate?
Blum provides planning data for fronts from 16mm to 32mm. Final suitability depends on the door profile, edge radius, drilling distance, mounting plate and required gap.
What cup drilling is required?
The hinge requires a 35mm-diameter cup hole approximately 13mm deep. Blum’s planning range uses a drilling distance of 3–7mm.
Does the hinge include soft close?
Yes. BLUMOTION soft close is integrated into the hinge cup and can be switched off on an individual hinge if less damping is needed.
Can I combine this hinge with a standard 71T9750?
No. Blum advises that CLIP top BLUMOTION and standard CLIP top hinges should not be combined on the same door.
Is the mounting plate included?
No. The product contains one hinge. A compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate and suitable fixing screws must be ordered separately.
What is the difference between 71B9750 and 71B9790?
Both are 95° inset thick-door hinges with integrated BLUMOTION. The 71B9750 has a screw-on cup, while the 71B9790 uses tool-free INSERTA cup fixing.
