Oak Flexible Wood Veneer FS Unglued 30mm x 100m is a genuine real-wood edging roll designed for covering exposed furniture-board edges with the warm colour, natural texture and distinctive grain of oak.

The veneer is fleeced and sanded but supplied completely unglued. This allows cabinet makers, furniture manufacturers and professional workshops to select an adhesive suited to their particular substrate, production equipment and installation method.

Unlike printed or imitation wood-effect edging, the visible surface is genuine oak veneer. Once correctly applied and finished, it creates an authentic timber appearance that coordinates particularly well with oak-faced MDF, chipboard, plywood and solid-oak furniture components.

What Does FS Mean?

FS stands for Fleeced and Sanded. A supporting fleece improves the flexibility and stability of the veneer, while the natural oak face is sanded to provide a smooth surface ready for final preparation and finishing.

This FS version does not have a heat-activated adhesive coating. A compatible adhesive must be selected and applied separately. This is the principal difference between FS unglued veneer and FSHM pre-glued veneer.

Application Guidance

Prepare a straight, clean, dry and stable panel edge, removing dust, oil, grease and loose fibres that could weaken the bond.

Select an adhesive compatible with both the veneer backing and the substrate. Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions regarding coverage, open time, pressure and curing time.

Position the veneer with sufficient material extending beyond both faces of the panel. Apply firm, consistent pressure across the complete width and length. Allow the adhesive to develop fully before trimming the veneer flush.

Always produce a test piece using the intended substrate, adhesive and finishing system before beginning a full production run.

Finishing the Veneer

Once bonded and trimmed, the natural oak surface can be finished with a compatible lacquer, oil, wax or wood stain. Clear finishes normally deepen the colour and highlight the characteristic oak grain, while stains can help coordinate the edging with surrounding furniture.

Because decorative veneer is considerably thinner than solid timber, sand carefully and test the selected finish on an offcut first.

Natural Wood Variation

Oak is a natural material. Differences in shade, grain direction, ray markings and figure should be expected between sections and production batches. These variations are normal and contribute to the authentic appearance of the finished furniture.

Does this veneer have glue on the back?

No. It is supplied completely unglued, allowing you to select an adhesive suitable for your substrate and application process.

What is the difference between FS and FSHM veneer?

FS veneer is fleeced and sanded but unglued. FSHM veneer includes a factory-applied heat-activated hot-melt adhesive.

Can this veneer be applied with an ordinary iron?

Not on its own. There is no adhesive coating for an iron to activate. A separate compatible bonding system must be selected and applied.

Can the oak veneer be stained or oiled?

Yes. Once applied, it can accept many compatible stains, oils, waxes and lacquers. Always test the finish on an offcut first.

Why choose the 30mm width?
