PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Red Alder Flexible Wood Veneer FSHM 25mm x 100m Pre-Glued

Red Alder Flexible Wood Veneer FSHM 25mm x 100m is a genuine real-wood edging roll with a factory-applied heat-activated adhesive. It provides exposed furniture-board edges with the warm colour, fine texture and understated grain of natural Red Alder.

Red Alder typically displays light tan, honey and reddish-brown tones with a relatively straight, even grain. Its restrained appearance makes it particularly suitable for contemporary furniture, fitted cabinetry and interior joinery where a smooth, consistent hardwood finish is required.

The practical 25mm width provides useful coverage and trimming allowance on many commonly used furniture panels. Supplied in a 100m roll, it is suitable for professional workshops, repeated edging work and furniture-production applications.

What Does FSHM Mean?

FSHM refers to veneer that is Fleeced, Sanded and supplied with Hot-Melt adhesive.

The supporting fleece improves flexibility and stability during handling. The genuine Red Alder surface is sanded to provide a smooth face, while the reverse has a factory-applied hot-melt adhesive.

Controlled heat and firm pressure activate the adhesive, removing the need to spread a separate glue in normal compatible applications.

Why Choose Red Alder Veneer?

Red Alder offers a warm hardwood appearance without the pronounced open grain associated with oak or ash. Its finer, more uniform texture works particularly well on clean-lined furniture, cabinet doors and coordinated fitted interiors.

A clear finish can enhance its natural honey and reddish tones, while a compatible stain can be used to achieve a deeper furniture colour. Because the visible surface is genuine wood, it produces a more authentic result than printed or imitation edging.

Application Guidance

Allow the veneer and panel material to acclimatise in the same working environment before installation. The panel edge should be straight, smooth, clean, dry and free from dust, oil, grease or loose fibres.

Cut the veneer slightly longer than the finished component and position it with an even trimming allowance. Activate the adhesive with a suitable edge-banding machine, veneer iron or other controlled heat source.

Apply firm and consistent pressure while the adhesive remains warm. Work progressively along the component to reduce the risk of movement, trapped air or incomplete bonding.

Allow the adhesive to cool fully before trimming. Always produce a test piece before starting a complete production run.

Trimming and Finishing

Once the bond has cooled, trim the excess veneer flush with the panel faces using a sharp veneer trimmer or suitable cutting tool. Work carefully with the grain to reduce the risk of tearing the natural surface.

Red Alder veneer can be lightly sanded and finished with a compatible clear lacquer, oil, wax or wood stain. Clear finishes generally deepen the natural colour and bring out its warm reddish character.

Avoid aggressive sanding because decorative veneer is considerably thinner than solid timber. Always test the selected finishing system on an offcut before treating the completed component.

Natural Wood Variation

Red Alder is a genuine natural material. Colour, grain pattern, figure and small natural markings will vary between sections and production batches. These variations are normal and contribute to the authentic appearance of real-wood edging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this genuine Red Alder veneer?

Yes. The visible surface is genuine natural Red Alder rather than a printed or imitation wood-effect material.

Does the veneer have adhesive applied?

Yes. It has a factory-applied hot-melt adhesive that is activated with controlled heat and pressure.

Is Red Alder the same as Red Oak?

No. Red Alder and Red Oak are different timber species. Alder generally has a finer, more uniform texture and less pronounced grain.

Can it be applied using an iron?

A suitable veneer iron or controlled heat source can be used. An appropriate edge-banding machine may provide more consistent results for production work.

Can Red Alder veneer be stained?

Yes. It can accept compatible wood stains and clear finishes. Always test the chosen system on an offcut first.
