White Oak has a pale-to-medium golden appearance with attractive natural grain character. It complements White Oak-faced MDF, plywood, veneered panels and light-oak furniture, creating a more authentic finish than printed or imitation wood-effect edging.

The generous 50mm width is suitable for wide panel edges, substantial furniture components, doors, layered boards and applications requiring additional trimming allowance. What Does FSHM Mean?

FSHM describes veneer that is Fleeced, Sanded and supplied with Hot-Melt adhesive.

The supporting fleece improves flexibility and stability, while the visible White Oak face is sanded to produce a smooth surface. The factory-applied hot-melt adhesive is activated using controlled heat and firm, consistent pressure.

Unlike FS unglued veneer, no separate adhesive normally needs to be spread onto the panel edge before application.

Application Guidance

Ensure that the panel edge is straight, smooth, clean and completely dry. Remove dust, grease, oil and loose fibres that could prevent the adhesive from forming a consistent bond.

Cut the veneer slightly longer than the finished component and position it with an appropriate trimming allowance. Activate the adhesive using a suitable edge-banding machine, veneer iron or other controlled heat source.

Work progressively along the component while applying firm and even pressure. Successful hot-melt application depends on achieving the correct balance of heat, movement and pressure. Allow the adhesive to cool and develop its bond before trimming the excess material.

Always test the veneer on an offcut using the intended substrate, equipment and settings before starting a complete production run.

Trimming and Finishing

Once the adhesive has cooled, trim the excess veneer flush with the panel faces using a suitable veneer trimmer or sharp cutting tool. Work carefully in relation to the grain direction to reduce the risk of splitting or tearing the natural wood surface.

The sanded White Oak face can be finished with a compatible clear lacquer, oil, wax or wood stain. Clear finishes generally deepen the colour and emphasise the natural grain, while stains can help coordinate the edging with an existing panel or furniture finish.

Decorative veneer is much thinner than solid timber, so avoid aggressive sanding. Always test the selected finish on an offcut first.

Natural White Oak Variation

White Oak is a genuine natural material. Grain pattern, colour, figure and ray markings will vary between sections and production batches. These differences are normal and give each finished component an authentic real-wood appearance.
