Blum CLIP top BLUMOTION 110° Half Overlay Screw-On Hinge 71B3650

The Blum CLIP top BLUMOTION 71B3650 is a sprung 110° concealed hinge for dual or half-overlay cabinet-door applications. Its half-cranked hinge arm allows two doors to be fitted to opposite sides of the same central cabinet partition.

BLUMOTION soft close is integrated directly into the hinge cup, producing a smooth and controlled closing movement without requiring a separate soft-close adapter. The damping function can be switched off on individual hinges when less resistance is required for a small or lightweight door.

Where is a half-overlay hinge used?

A half-overlay — or dual-application — hinge is commonly used where two cabinet doors share one central dividing panel. One door is fitted to each side of the partition, with both doors partially covering its front edge.

The half-cranked arm differentiates this hinge from the straight-arm 71B3550 full-overlay hinge and the full-cranked 71B3750 inset hinge.

Screw-on hinge-cup fixing

The 71B3650 uses a traditional screw-on hinge cup. The 35mm cup fits into a correctly prepared bore in the back of the cabinet door and is secured through the two fixing holes in the cup flange.

This screw-on arrangement is suitable for cabinet manufacture, replacement hinges and installations where a conventional mechanical fixing is preferred.

The hinge arm connects to a compatible Blum mounting plate using the CLIP mechanism. This allows the fitted door to be attached or removed from the cabinet without tools.

Mounting plate and installation

A compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate is required and must be ordered separately. The correct mounting-plate height, hinge-cup position and resulting door overlay depend on the cabinet construction, door thickness, drilling distance and required gap. A trial installation is recommended before drilling a complete set of doors.

Alternative half-overlay hinges

An optional Blum 86° opening-angle stop can be fitted where the door must be prevented from opening into an adjacent wall, cabinet or appliance.

What is the difference between 71B3650 and 71T3650?

Both are sprung, half-overlay hinges with screw-on cups. The 71B3650 includes integrated BLUMOTION soft close; the 71T3650 does not.
