Blum 71T3690 CLIP Top 110° Dual Half-Overlay INSERTA Hinge – Nickel

The Blum 71T3690 is a sprung CLIP top concealed hinge for dual or half-overlay cabinet-door applications. Its cranked hinge arm allows two doors to be fitted to opposite sides of the same central cabinet partition, with each door covering only part of the shared panel.

This version combines a 110° opening angle with Blum’s INSERTA tool-free hinge-cup fixing. It is particularly useful for furniture production where accurately prepared doors need to be assembled quickly and consistently without conventional cup-fixing screws.

The hinge is sprung to provide a self-closing action. It does not contain integrated BLUMOTION soft close.

What is a dual or half-overlay hinge?

A dual hinge is used when two doors share the same central cabinet partition. One door is hinged from one side of the panel and the second door from the opposite side.

The cranked hinge arm positions each door so it partially covers the shared panel rather than creating the larger overlay associated with a straight-arm hinge. The final overlay depends on the cup drilling distance, mounting-plate height and hinge adjustment.

How does INSERTA fixing work?

INSERTA is Blum’s tool-free system for securing the hinge cup to the cabinet door. The door must be prepared with a 35mm cup drilling and two 8mm fixing holes positioned at 45mm centres. The hinge is inserted into the prepared drilling and secured using its locking mechanism, without conventional cup-fixing screws.

INSERTA describes only the hinge-to-door connection. It does not refer to the cabinet-side mounting plate.

Choosing between INSERTA and screw-on fixing

The correct fixing version should match the existing door drilling or the chosen production method. The 71T3690 uses INSERTA tool-free hinge-cup fixing, while the 71T3650 uses a conventional screw-on hinge cup. Both perform the same dual or half-overlay function but use different methods of securing the cup to the door. The 71T3690 requires the complete INSERTA drilling pattern and cannot be fitted into a single 35mm cup hole without the additional 8mm holes.

Sprung without integrated soft close

The 71T3690 contains a closing spring that helps pull the door into its closed position. It is not a BLUMOTION hinge and should not be described as having switchable soft close.

Tool-free CLIP mounting

Once fitted to the door, the hinge arm clips onto a compatible Blum mounting plate without tools. This allows the complete door to be removed and rehung without releasing the INSERTA cup from the door.
