Blum 74T1790BTL 107° Inset Unsprung INSERTA Hinge

The Blum 74T1790BTL CLIP top hinge is an unsprung concealed hinge for inset cabinet doors between 15mm and 24mm thick. It combines a fully cranked hinge arm with Blum’s tool-free INSERTA cup fixing, making it particularly suitable for efficient cabinet production and handleless doors operated by a separate TIP-ON push-to-open unit.

Because this hinge contains no closing spring, it does not pull the door back towards the cabinet. This allows a compatible TIP-ON mechanism to push the door forward smoothly when the front is pressed.

Inset cabinet-door application

An inset cabinet door closes within the cabinet opening, leaving the front edges of the cabinet sides visible. The fully cranked arm of the 74T1790BTL positions the door inside this opening and provides a practical 107° opening angle.

Inset installations require accurate planning because the finished gaps are affected by the door thickness, cup drilling distance, mounting-plate height and cabinet construction. The mounting-plate fixing position must also be set back correctly for the thickness of the door. A trial installation is recommended before drilling a complete set of doors.

Unsprung operation for TIP-ON

The 74T1790BTL does not contain a self-closing spring. This makes it suitable for handleless cabinets using a separate Blum TIP-ON door unit. Pressing the closed door activates the TIP-ON plunger, which moves the door forward far enough to be opened by hand.

This product does not contain BLUMOTION and will not provide soft closing. The correct TIP-ON unit must be selected according to the size, weight and construction of the door.

How INSERTA fixing works

INSERTA provides fast, tool-free attachment of the hinge cup to a correctly drilled cabinet door. The cup is placed into the 35mm boring, and the INSERTA lever is closed to expand the two integrated fixings inside the prepared Ø8mm side holes.

The two side holes use Blum’s 45/9.5mm drilling pattern. INSERTA therefore requires more than the central 35mm cup hole, but no separate hinge-cup fixing screws are needed.

CLIP mounting and door adjustment

The hinge arm connects to a compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate without tools. The door can be removed and refitted without disturbing the adjustment screws, making cabinet installation and maintenance quicker.

Once fitted, the door can be adjusted sideways and in depth. Height adjustment is provided by the selected mounting plate.
