Blum 71T950A CLIP top 95° Aluminium-Frame Overlay Hinge

The Blum 71T950A is a specialist sprung concealed hinge for overlay cabinet doors manufactured with narrow aluminium profiles. Its dedicated zinc hinge cup fits into a correctly machined aluminium frame, providing the geometry and secure fixing that a conventional 35mm timber-door hinge cannot offer.

The hinge opens to 95° and has a sprung, self-closing action that draws the door into its closed position. It does not contain an integrated soft-close mechanism, making it suitable where a conventional self-closing action is required.

A straight hinge arm creates an overlay application, where the closed aluminium-frame door covers the front edge of the cabinet side. The final overlay and door position depend on the aluminium profile, routing dimensions, mounting-plate height and cabinet construction.

Aluminium-profile compatibility

This is not a conventional circular-cup hinge for timber or MDF doors. The aluminium frame must be routed and drilled to suit the shape and mounting pattern of the Blum aluminium-frame hinge cup.

Blum’s planning information covers common combinations of approximately 18–22mm frame thickness and 19–32mm side-frame width. The required minimum gap changes with the profile dimensions, and Blum recommends a trial installation for certain wider or unusual profile combinations.

Confirm the aluminium extrusion dimensions and routing detail before machining a complete set of doors. The hinge cup should be fully supported by the routed profile.

Sprung self-closing action

The 71T950A contains a closing spring but no BLUMOTION damper. When the door approaches its closed position, the spring pulls it shut in the conventional manner.

For an aluminium-frame overlay hinge with integrated soft closing, choose the Blum 71B950A integrated BLUMOTION hinge. Do not attempt to fit the 973A clip-on damper to this 71T950A version; Blum specifies the separate 71T950AB hinge for that combination.

Installation and adjustment

The supplied screws secure the shaped hinge cup to the prepared aluminium profile. Once fitted, the hinge clips onto a compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate inside the cabinet.

The CLIP connection allows the complete door to be attached or removed without loosening the adjustment screws. Side, depth and height adjustment can then be used to produce consistent door gaps and alignment.
