PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This 526 mm ExiSound Concealex A8100 Superior is a recessed automatic drop seal for the bottom of a suitable door. The satin anodised aluminium casing contains a self-levelling TPE seal that lowers to help close the threshold gap. Check the door construction and finished width before selecting or shortening the seal.

Preparing the door and choosing a length

The fitting instructions specify a 14 mm wide × 35 mm deep slot in the door bottom, plus preparation for the endplates. Follow the instructions for plunger positioning. For this 526 mm length, the manufacturer brochure permits trimming by up to 150 mm from the end opposite the plunger. Measure the door and follow the full fitting instructions before cutting. For a shorter nominal length, see the 426 mm recessed seal. If the door cannot be routed, compare the face-fix Concealex seal. More options are in the door sealing range.

Performance and doorset suitability

The manufacturer’s A8100 Superior brochure reports fire testing for 30 and 60 minutes to BS EN 1634-1:2014 and acoustic testing up to 44 dB to BS EN ISO 10140-2:2010. CERTIFIRE CF5785 covers smoke-sealing use subject to its specified door assemblies and installation conditions. Product test results do not automatically establish the rating of a completed door assembly.

Frequently asked questions

Can the 526 mm seal be shortened?

The manufacturer brochure permits trimming by up to 150 mm from the end opposite the plunger for this length. Measure carefully and follow the full fitting instructions before cutting.

Does it need to be recessed?

Yes. This A8100 Superior model fits into a prepared slot at the bottom of the door. The Concealex Facefix version has a different, surface-mounted fitting method.

What is the maximum drop?

The manufacturer states 17 mm. Check the actual threshold gap and the requirements of the complete door assembly.

Is the seal itself intumescent?

No. CERTIFIRE CF5785 states that the Concealex drop seals do not contain intumescent material.

Is the complete door automatically fire rated after fitting it?

No. Fire and smoke performance must be assessed against the evidence and installation conditions for the particular door assembly.
