Blum 70T9690BTL Onyx 95° Half-Overlay Thick-Door Hinge

The Blum 70T9690BTL is an unsprung CLIP top hinge for half-overlay or dual cabinet-door applications. It is designed for thick furniture doors and fronts with decorative profiles where a conventional 110° hinge may not provide sufficient opening clearance.

In a dual application, two doors are positioned on opposite sides of the same central cabinet partition. The cranked hinge arm provides the half-overlay geometry required for each door to cover only part of the shared partition.

This version opens to 95° and features Blum's tool-free INSERTA hinge-cup fixing. Its Onyx black finish is particularly suitable for dark cabinet interiors and contemporary furniture.

Important: this is an unsprung hinge. It does not pull the door closed and does not contain integrated BLUMOTION. It is primarily intended for properly planned TIP-ON push-to-open applications or specialist hinge arrangements.

What does INSERTA mean?

INSERTA is Blum's tool-free method of securing the hinge cup to the door. The hinge is placed into the correctly prepared drilling pattern and the integrated INSERTA lever locks the fixing pins in position.

INSERTA refers to the hinge-to-door connection. A separate Blum CLIP mounting plate is still required on the cabinet.

The mounting plate is sold separately. Its height must be selected according to the cabinet-side thickness, required half overlay, cup drilling distance and finished door gap.

Door thickness alone does not confirm compatibility. The front profile, edge radius, cup drilling distance, mounting-plate height and required operating gap must be considered together. Blum's planning table covers front thicknesses up to 32mm, but trial fitting is recommended for thicker or heavily profiled doors.

Do not combine standard CLIP top hinges and CLIP top BLUMOTION hinges on the same door.

What is a dual or half-overlay hinge?

It is used where two doors share one central cabinet partition. Each door overlays only part of the partition, allowing the two fronts to open independently.

What does unsprung mean?

The hinge contains no closing spring. It allows the door to move freely but will not pull it into the closed position.

Can this hinge be used with TIP-ON?

Yes. Unsprung hinges are commonly used with a correctly selected Blum TIP-ON unit to create a mechanical push-to-open, handleless cabinet door.

Does this hinge include soft closing?

No. It has neither integrated BLUMOTION nor a closing spring. For a straightforward soft-close application, choose the Onyx 71B9690 version with integrated BLUMOTION.

Can I add a BLUMOTION damper to this hinge?

A damper controls closing speed but does not provide the closing force missing from an unsprung hinge. Use the integrated-BLUMOTION version unless the complete hinge arrangement has been professionally planned.

Is INSERTA a mounting plate?

No. INSERTA is the tool-free fixing that secures the hinge cup to the door. The cabinet mounting plate is a separate component.
