Blum 71M2790B CLIP 100° Inset Sprung INSERTA Hinge

The Blum 71M2790B is a genuine BLUM CLIP concealed hinge designed for inset cabinet doors. Its cranked hinge arm positions the closed door within the cabinet opening rather than allowing it to overlap the cabinet sides.

This legacy BLUM CLIP hinge combines a 100° opening angle, sprung self-closing action and an INSERTA tool-free hinge cup. It is particularly useful for matching existing 71M-series installations and for doors already prepared with the appropriate INSERTA drilling pattern.

Please note: sprung means that the hinge helps pull the door closed. It does not mean soft-close. Soft closing can be added using the compatible Blum 973A0700 clip-on BLUMOTION damper.

INSERTA tool-free cup fixing

INSERTA secures the hinge cup to a correctly drilled cabinet door without conventional cup-fixing screws. The door requires a 35mm cup drilling plus two 8mm fixing holes positioned at 45mm centres. The hinge arm then clips onto a compatible cabinet-side mounting plate without tools.

Planning an inset installation

Inset doors close within the cabinet opening and require a consistent operating gap around every edge. Under Blum's standard planning arrangement, the mounting-plate fixing position is moved back by the door thickness plus 1.2mm. Door thickness, edge profile, drilling distance and mounting-plate height must all be considered before installation.

A compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate must be ordered separately.

Add optional soft close

The hinge is self-closing but does not contain integrated BLUMOTION. Add the Blum 973A0700 inset clip-on BLUMOTION damper when soft closing is required.

For a newer hinge with a wider opening angle, consider the Blum 71T3790 CLIP top 110° inset INSERTA hinge. Check the drilling pattern and installation geometry before treating it as a direct replacement.

Is the Blum 71M2790B a CLIP top hinge?

No. It belongs to Blum's earlier CLIP 100° hinge family. It uses the familiar tool-free CLIP connection to a compatible mounting plate but should not be labelled CLIP top.

Does the 71M2790B have soft close?

No. It is sprung and self-closing, but it does not contain BLUMOTION. Soft closing can be added with the compatible 973A0700 clip-on damper.
