PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Blum 71T3790 CLIP Top 110° Inset INSERTA Hinge – Nickel

The Blum 71T3790 is a sprung CLIP top concealed hinge for inset cabinet doors. Its double-cranked hinge arm positions the closed door within the cabinet opening rather than allowing the door to overlap the cabinet sides.

This version combines a 110° opening angle with Blum’s INSERTA tool-free hinge-cup fixing. It is suitable for furniture production and replacement work where the doors have been prepared with the complete INSERTA drilling pattern.

The hinge contains a closing spring that helps pull the door into its closed position. It does not contain integrated BLUMOTION soft close.

What is an inset hinge?

An inset hinge is used when the cabinet door closes within the cabinet opening. The door does not cover the front edges of the cabinet sides as it would with an overlay hinge.

The double-cranked arm of the 71T3790 positions the door inside the opening. Correct installation requires a suitable operating gap around the door so that its edges do not catch the cabinet sides, adjoining doors or surrounding frame.

The final door position depends on the door thickness, cup drilling distance, mounting-plate position and hinge adjustment.

How does INSERTA fixing work?

INSERTA is Blum’s tool-free system for attaching the hinge cup to the door. The door must be prepared with a 35mm cup drilling and two additional 8mm fixing holes positioned at 45mm centres. The hinge is inserted into this drilling pattern and secured using its locking mechanism without conventional cup-fixing screws.

The 71T3790 cannot be installed correctly into a single 35mm cup hole without the additional INSERTA fixing holes.

INSERTA versus screw-on fixing

The required version should match the drilling pattern in the cabinet door. The 71T3790 uses tool-free INSERTA hinge-cup fixing, while the 71T3750 uses a conventional screw-on hinge cup. Both hinges provide a sprung 110° inset application; the difference is the method used to secure the hinge cup to the door.

Sprung without integrated soft close

The built-in spring helps pull the cabinet door towards its closed position and holds it closed. The 71T3790 is not a BLUMOTION hinge and should not be described as having switchable soft close.

The corresponding inset INSERTA hinge with integrated BLUMOTION is Blum part number 71B3790.

Planning an inset installation

Inset cabinet doors require accurate planning because the door must open within the cabinet structure while maintaining a consistent surrounding gap. Blum’s standard planning guidance positions the mounting-plate fixing farther back than for an overlay door, calculated using the door thickness plus 1.5mm.

Door thickness, edge profiles and adjustment requirements can affect the minimum operating gap. A trial installation is recommended for thick, heavily profiled or existing cabinet doors.

Tool-free CLIP mounting

Once the INSERTA cup has been fitted to the door, the hinge arm clips onto a compatible Blum mounting plate without tools. The complete door can therefore be removed and rehung without releasing the INSERTA mechanism. Three-dimensional adjustment allows the door position and surrounding gaps to be refined after assembly.

Mounting plate required

This listing supplies one hinge. A compatible Blum CLIP mounting plate is required and must be ordered separately. Confirm the plate height, cabinet fixing method and mounting position before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Blum 71T3790 have soft close?

No. The 71T3790 is sprung and self-closing but does not contain integrated BLUMOTION. The BLUMOTION equivalent is part number 71B3790.

What does INSERTA mean?

INSERTA is Blum’s tool-free method of attaching the hinge cup to a correctly prepared cabinet door without conventional cup-fixing screws.

Does INSERTA refer to the mounting plate?

No. INSERTA describes the hinge-to-door connection. A separate Blum CLIP mounting plate is still required on the cabinet.

What does inset mean?

Inset means that the closed door sits within the cabinet opening rather than overlapping the cabinet sides.

Is the mounting plate included?

No. This product is supplied as one hinge only. A compatible mounting plate must be purchased separately.

Can the door be removed without tools?

Yes. The CLIP connection allows the hinge arm to be released from the cabinet-side mounting plate without removing the INSERTA cup from the door.

Is it suitable for doors up to 24mm thick?

Yes. It can be used with doors up to 24mm thick, subject to the correct drilling pattern, mounting-plate position and operating clearance.
