Blum 71B960A CLIP top BLUMOTION Aluminium-Frame Hinge – 95° Dual

The Blum 71B960A is a concealed soft-close hinge developed specifically for narrow aluminium-frame cabinet doors in a dual or half-overlay application.

A dual hinge is normally used where two doors share the same central cabinet partition. Each closed door covers part of the shared cabinet side, allowing neighbouring aluminium-framed doors to operate independently while maintaining an even central gap.

Integrated BLUMOTION soft-close technology controls the final closing movement, producing a smooth and quiet action without requiring a separate damper. The BLUMOTION function can be switched off on an individual hinge to optimise the closing speed of smaller or lightweight doors.

What is a dual or half-overlay hinge?

A dual hinge is used when two cabinet doors are hinged from opposite sides of the same central partition. Each door covers only part of that partition, rather than completely overlaying it.

The exact door overlay and central gap depend on the aluminium profile, cabinet construction, mounting-plate height and final hinge adjustment. These measurements should be confirmed against the Blum planning information before machining the door profiles.

Integrated BLUMOTION soft-close

BLUMOTION is built directly into the hinge arm. It slows the aluminium-framed door before it reaches the cabinet, reducing closing noise and limiting impact on the frame, decorative panel and cabinet structure.

The damping mechanism can be deactivated on an individual hinge. This provides greater control when fitting small or lightweight doors that may close too slowly with every hinge damper operating.

Made for narrow aluminium profiles

The 71B960A uses a specially shaped boss that fits into a correctly routed aluminium door profile. It is not a standard round 35mm cup hinge and is not intended for ordinary timber, MDF or chipboard cabinet doors.

Aluminium profile dimensions vary between systems. Check the profile width, thickness, routing pattern and required minimum gap against the Blum technical information before machining. A trial installation is advisable when using a new frame profile.

Installation and adjustment

The shaped boss is fixed to the prepared aluminium profile using the supplied screws. The hinge arm then clips onto a compatible Blum mounting plate without tools, allowing the door to be attached and removed without disturbing the cabinet-side fixing.

Three-dimensional adjustment helps the installer achieve an even central gap and consistent alignment with neighbouring doors. The spiral depth-adjustment screw provides precise adjustment without removing the hinge.
